How to Make Back to School Cookies

Celebrate the school year with delicious cookies! Whether you bake them for the entire class or want to give a teacher a special gift, everyone would enjoy a tasty cookie.
  • 1 Preheat oven

    Preheat oven to 350ºF.

  • 2 Mix ingredients

In the bowl, mix cream, butter and sugar together at least 3 minutes or until smooth.

  • 3 Add a few ingredients

    Beat in vanilla and egg.

  • 4 Make dough

In a seperate bowl, combine baking powder with flour and add a litte at a time to wet the ingedients. The dough will be very stiff. If it becomes too stiff for your mixer turn out the dough onto a countertop surface. Wet your hands and finish off kneading the dough by hand.

  • 5 Divide dough

Do not chill the dough. Divide into workable batches, roll out onto a floured surface and cut. You want these cookies to be on the thicker side.

  • 6 Bake

Bake at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes. Let cool on the cookie sheet until firm enough to transfer to a cooling rack.

  • 7 Make icing

Combine butter, powdered sugar and vanilla. Add milk slowly to reach desired consistency.

  • 8 Color icing

Color icing colors of choice for cookie shapes.

  • 9 Decorate cookies

Place icing in assembled icing bags with Wilton® tip #2. Decorate each cookie shape.
