How to Make Easter Penguins
Everyone knows the Easter bunny, but have you even seen Easter penguins? Sitting atop a coconut nest complete with jelly bean eggs, these cute little chocolate creatures make a fun surprise for any Easter basket.
Mix chocolate & coconut
Melt milk chocolate wafers according to package instructions. Pour approximately 1 cup of the melted wafers into an additional bowl and combine with 1 cup shredded coconut.
Portion & shape
Immediately portion mixture into 3 clumps on wax paper. Using spoon, shape into a nest shape, and chill until set.
Fill egg mold
Using the remaining melted milk chocolate flavored candy wafers, fill the egg mold. You will need 6 eggs to make 3 complete chicks. Chill after filling.
Make chocolate beaks
Using the small bowl, melt the orange candy wafers according to package instructions. With the skewer, create little beak shaped triangles on the wax paper that can be adhered to your chicks later.
Cut peanut butter wafers
With small knife, cut the peanut butter wafers in half to make the chick's wing.
Create candy eyes
Create candy eyes by following the package instructions.
To assemble the chick, use remaining melted wafers to adhere 2 sides of the molded eggs together. Place each chick body inside a nest with additional melted wafers.
Decorate the chick with candy eyes, peanut butter wings and the beaks that have set up.
Garnish with a few jelly beans inside the nest.
