You've colored the frosting and added sprinkles, but your cupcakes are still missing something. What could it be? When you're looking for cupcake decorating ideas, think outside the kitchen! These adorable paper cupcake toppers are easy to make and even easier to decorate.
Punch your patterned paper
Start by using the large scallop circle punch on your patterned paper. Cut out as many circles as you have cupcakes. This will be the base for the paper cupcake toppers.
Punch smaller circles
Use a non-scalloped circle punch to create smaller circles to nest inside of the larger scalloped ones. Use a coordinating solid color cardstock. Adhere the small circles to the larger scalloped circles with a tape runner.
Embellish your paper cupcake toppers
Embellish your paper cupcake toppers. Use themed embellishments to celebrate birthdays, bridal showers or grad parties, and more. Or, personalize each cupcake with a hand written message or guest's name.
Attach a toothpick
Use glue dots to attach a toothpick to the back of each scalloped circle. Once finished, simply insert the paper cupcake toppers into your cupcakes and serve!
