What You'll Need:

12" Cake Pan
Cake Mix Box (Including Ingredients Listed)
Cake Board
Icing Bakes
Cuplers
Wilton® 2 Tip
Wilton® Food Coloring - red, green, black
Off Set Spatula

Icing
1 Cup Butter
2 lbs Powdered Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
3 tbsp Milk

How To Make a Watermelon Cake

Taking your favorite fruit and turning into a delicious dessert has never been so easy! We show you how to make a tasty Watermelon Cake in a few simple steps and in no time you will have your own sweet treat. 
  • 1 Prepare cake

    Prepare cake as directed and set aside to cool. 

  • 2 Prepare icing

    Prepare icing (mix all ingredients except for milk). Slowly add the milk to reach desired consistency. 

  • 3 Color icing

    Color red, green and black icing leaving a portion white. Place into assembled bags with Wilton® #2 tip.

  • 4 Cut cake

    Level cake and cut into 2 half spheres, place on cake board. 

  • 5 Ice cake

    Ice one half with white icing, place other half on top and crumb coat cake, set in fridge for about 30 minutes. 

  • 6 Add green icing

    Using off set spatula, ice circle sides and about 1" edge with green icing. 

  • 7 Add red icing

    Ice remaining top and flat side with red. 

  • 8 Add white icing

    Using white icing, pipe a thick strip between the two colors for the rind of watermelon and two circles for the eyes. 

  • 9 Add black icing

    With black icing, pipe the inner portion of the eye, the smile and the seeds of the watermelon. Finally make a small white dot on inner part of the eye.
