How to Make a Plastic Canvas Flowered Beach Tote
No sunny day at the pool or beach is complete without this Plastic Canvas Flowered Beach Tote! Use our color suggestions, or create yours with your favorite brightly colored canvas. And don't worry if it gets wet, the plastic canvas simply wipes dry. Use it to carry all of your summertime necessities.
Spread newspaper onto work surface. Lay coral plastic canvas sheet down and arrange stencil onto canvas as desired. Use sponge dauber to apply paint onto stencil. Carefully lift stencil and remove. Let paint dry completely.
Cut bottom & sides
Cut a section of the blue canvas 27 squares, or approximately 4 1/8" wide, for the bottom of the tote. Cut 2 sections of the coral canvas in the same size for the sides.
Cut 1 yd. turquoise cording. Stack the blue bottom and a coral side piece together and whipstitch the first end together. Stack the other coral side piece onto the blue and whipstitch.
Open the coral side flaps and align the blue bottom edge with a coral canvas sheet. Cut a 2 yd. section of turquoise cording and whipstitch edges together. Align a side with the coral canvas and continue to whipstitch the edges together. Repeat with the other side.
Repeat with stenciled canvas
Repeat Step 4 with the stenciled canvas, making sure that the stencil pattern is on the outside.
Whipstitch top edge
Cut 3 yds. royal cording and whipstitch along the top edge of the tote.
Cut 2 sections of the blue canvas 6 squares, or approximately 1" down for the handle. Stitch in place with royal cording. Repeat on opposite side with other handle.
Arrange and glue flowers onto the front of the tote.
