How to Make Dress Up Felt Dolls
Sometimes the simplest toys are the most fun! It only takes about an hour to make a felt doll character, plus an entire wardrobe, but playing dress up with this adorable personalized doll is an activity that can last all day. You can make an inexpensive, easy outfit for any pretend scenario your child can dream up for his or her doll!
Pick a template
Draw or print a template for the doll and its clothing. Try using a paper doll template from clip art, the Internet or draw your own.
Cut out felt
Pin the template to felt and cut it out.
Use a French knot to give the doll a belly button. Use embroidery floss to stitch on hair and to create a face on the doll.
Decorate doll outfits
Sew any undergarments directly onto the doll. Use embroidery floss and use simple back-stitching to decorate the doll outfits with logos and details. If your children are old enough to use scissors, they can even design their own doll outfits and decorate them with puffy paint.
