How to Make a T-Shirt Necklace

Do you have a favorite old t-shirt with a huge hole, or that just doesn't fit anymore? You don't have to retire it, because you an repurpose it! You can use your vibrant or patterned tee to create a fashionable necklace, complete with paper straw beads.
  • 1 Cut shirt

    Cut t-shirt into approximately 1 1/2" loops. The loops will curl.

  • 2 Cut paper

    Cut scrapbook paper triangles approximately 1" x 12". Adjust the width to create different size beads.

  • 3 Attach to straw

    Attach the wide end of the triangle to the straw using glue.

  • 4 Wrap paper

    Wrap the paper around the straw and glue the point.

  • 5 Make beads

    Make 3 to 4 beads on a straw, leaving approximately 1/2" between each bead.

  • 6 Coat beads

    Coat beads with sealer. Let dry completely.

  • 7 Cut straw

    Cut the straw apart, creating your beads.

  • 8 Cut t-shirt loop

    Cut a t-shirt loop open and thread beads on.

  • 9 Tie knots

    If desired, tie a knot in between each bead. Tie the end closed.
