What You'll Need:

Blue Mason Jar
Aqua Green Crushed Shells
Blue Moon Lights
Acrylic Paint: Blue, Aqua
Cuttlebug™ or Die Cut Machine of Choice (sold in stores)
Cactus Die Cut
Oracal® Vinyl Sheet: Any Color
Foam Dauber
3D Glue Dots®

How to Make an Illuminated Cactus Jar

Illuminate the night with a festive Cactus Jar! Use die cuts to create the cacti, paint the jar, add crushed shells and then place bright moon lights inside. Once complete, your jar will be the perfect decoration inspired by the calming nighttime atmosphere of the desert. Want more inspiration? Check out the Retro Camper project!
  • 1 Create the cactus die cuts

    Use the die cut machine to cut the cactus die cuts from the vinyl sheets.

  • 2 Attach cacti to jar

    Peel and attach each cactus onto the jar. Press firmly into place.

  • 3 Paint the jar

    Paint the jar blue. Let dry, then sponge on a coat of aqua paint. Let dry completely. Remove the vinyl.

  • 4 Add the shells to the jar

    Add about an inch or two of shells into the bottom of the jar.

  • 5 Add the moon lights to the jar

    Glue Dot® the moon lights inside the lid.

  • 6 Turn the lights on

    Turn light switch on and screw the lid onto the jar.
