How to Make a Nautical Banner

AHOY! Sail your way into the Summer decorating season by crafting your own Nautical Banner! With Patriotic colors and under the sea, a Nautical Banner is just what you need to dress up your space this season.
  • 1 Paint anchors & sailboats

Paint the anchors and sailboats blue and set aside to dry.

  • 2 Add pennant shapes

Trace four of the pennant shapes onto each of two sheets of white, red, gray and light blue cardstock. Cut out the shapes. Glue two of the blue and two of the white sheets to the pennants with a glue stick. Cut the grey and red pennant sheets into 1" strips and glue onto the pennants: the grey onto the blue, the red onto the white.

  • 3 Cut & add flag shapes

Trace three of the flag shapes onto a sheet of both blue and white cardstock and two red sheets. Cut out shapes. Cut the blue and one of the red shapes diagonally in half and glue onto the flags. Glue the white cardstock onto another flag and cut a 1.5" vertical stripe from the remaining red shape. Glue that onto the white flag.

  • 4 Glue items onto each other

Glue the anchors onto the pennants and the sailboats onto the flags.

  • 5 String flags on jute

Alternating the pennants and flags, with the white and red flag in the center, string them onto the jute.
