How to Make a Glass Block Holiday Nutcracker

Give your favorite nutcracker a new look with a glass block, some shiny metallics and lots of ribbon! Find the perfect supplies to match your nutcracker, then deck it out for the holidays.

  • 1 Make a bow

    Make a 9" bow on the Bowdabra®.

  • 2 Lay block down

Lay the glass block down so the opening is facing the back.

  • 3 Place duct tape

Tear off a 5" piece of duct tape and tape it to the top center of the glass block.

  • 4 Wrap ribbon

Wrap a ribbon around the left and right side of the glass block. Hot glue the ends together.

  • 5 Glue bow

Glue the bow to the center of the ribbon and duct tape.

  • 6 Stabilize the nutcracker

Cut 1" square pieces of scrap cardboard. Hot glue them into the bow around the base of the nutcracker to help stabilize it.

  • 7 Glue picks

Glue holiday picks into the bow.

  • 8 Add lights

Remove the glass block backing. Take 1 sheet of foil and wrap it around a strand of lights. Turn lights on to shine through the foil tissue.
