How to Make Christmas DIY Gnomes
Can you believe these crafty gnomes are made out of oversized clothespins? These Christmas DIY Gnomes are a jolly addition to a collection of nutcrackers or a mantel display! Personalize yours with patterned holiday ribbon, red and green felt and of course some gold trim.
Cover with ribbon
Cover 1 side of the clothespin with holiday ribbon. Glue in place.
Measure & mark fur
Lay the fur facedown onto a self-healing mat. Measure and mark with a pencil 2 1/2" from the outside edge and 4 1/2" from the bottom for the large clothespin, or 1 1/2" from the outside edge and 3" from the bottom for the medium clothespin.
Turn fur over and separate the fur up and over where you marked to cut. Turn fur over again and cut the mesh. Start the cut from the top and work down.
Glue on beards
For the large clothespin, glue the top section of the beard about 2" from the top of the pin. For the medium clothespin, glue the top section of the beard about 1 1/2" from the top of the pin.
Glue on noses
Glue the wood ball nose at the top center bead on the large clothespin, and the furniture button to the top center beard of the medium clothespin.
Make felt hats
For the large clothespin, make a 7" cone hat and for the medium clothespin make a 5" cone hat out of felt to fit around the clothespin. Glue the edges together and glue a section of the hat to the back of the clothespin.
Glue ribbon trim around the bottom edge of each hat.
