How to Make a Mesh & Ribbon Christmas Tree Decoration
A small alpine tree is a perfect alternative or addition to a full-size Christmas tree, and since it comes already lighted, all that's left for you to do is decorate! We gave ours some whimsical style with mesh ribbon and tubing and printed holiday ribbon. See how you can too.
Position the branches on the alpine so they are sticking straight out from the trunk.
Wrap mesh around trunk
Starting at the bottom branch, start wrapping deco mesh loosely around the trunk, between the branches. As you wrap up the trunk, work the branches in a downward position, fluffing them out.
Continue wrapping to the top of the tree.
Randomly tie ribbon
Cut ribbon in approximately 13" lengths and tie it randomly throughout the tree.
Cut & attach bundles of tubing
Cut tubing into 2 yd. pieces and create bundles, attaching them in the tree with the ribbon and mesh. Use the stems on the branches to twist around the ribbon and tubing, and to hold it in place.
Attach ornaments in groupings of 2 or 3.
Create & place bow
Following the Bowdabra instructions, create a 12" bow using the ribbon and tubing. Place the finished bow on top of the tree.
