How to Make a Rustic Wood Pallet Tree

Celebrate the holidays with a new type of Christmas tree! This Rustic Wood Pallet Tree is a festive way to decorate, especially if you love shabby chic style. After you're done painting you can dress up this distressed wood pallet tree with snowflakes, cardinals, lights or your favorite embellishments.
  • 1 Paint tree

Paint the tree brown. Let dry completely.

  • 2 Smear petroleum jelly & paint

Randomly smear petroleum jelly onto the tree. Paint the tree while. Let dry completely.

  • 3 Sand & edge with black paint

Use a sanding block to sand the tree. Wipe the surface of the tree down. Edge some of the wood with black paint.

  • 4 Paint & glue snowflakes

Using a sponge dabber, apply a mix of the metallic paints onto the snowflakes. Let snowflakes dry completely, then glue them onto the tree.

  • 5 Attach cardinals & moon lights

Glue a few cardinals onto the tree, then wrap moon lights throughout. Tape the light cord to the back of the tree.
