How to Make Heidi Swapp DIY Marquee Letters
Customizable marquee letters are a must for any occasion, or even everyday decor, and with Heidi Swapp DIY Marquee Letters, you can personalize them to match any space. Use your imagination, and cardstock, paint, glitter or washi tape, and create a set of letters that are sure to impress.
Remove package contents
Remove letter, template, cord and bulbs from package.
If you are using paint to decorate your letter, use a paint brush to apply acrylic paint to the desired areas of the letter. Let dry completely.
Coat with Mod Podge & sprinkle glitter
If you are using glitter to decorate your letter, paint the entire letter with Mod Podge and sprinkle glitter onto the letter. Let dry completely. If you are looking for a glittery effect without the mess, try using a sheet of glitter cardstock.
Cut & fit scrapbook paper or cardstock
If you are using scrapbook paper or cardstock to decorate your letter, use the template to trace the shape of the letter. Cut out the shape and punch out holes for the bulbs. Punch out holes from the back of the paper so the front does not appear ragged. Fit your paper into the letter.
Decorate with washi tape
If desired, decorate the outer or inner edges of the letter with washi tape.
Twist in bulb caps
Twist the bulb caps into the holes in the letter. They will fig snugly. If desired, you can also purchase colored bulb caps for your letter.
Starting with the light closest to the battery pack, gently insert it into the bulb cap. Continue for each bulb cap.
Secure battery pack
Secure the battery back inside the back of the letter.
