How to Make a Monogrammed Wood Tag

A Monogrammed Wood Tag is the perfect autumn alternative to a traditional fall leaf wreath! Make yours with your family monogram, then accent it with rustic burlap ribbon and raffia and hang it on your front door or wall.
  • 1 Apply modeling compound

Using palette knife, randomly apply modeling compound to tag. Be sure to spread it out, then let dry completely.

  • 2 Paint & sand

Apply walnut stain and red sienna. Let each coat dry completely, and sand in between coats to distress.

  • 3 Apply stain

Apply stain over top randomly without sanding for darker areas.

  • 4 Highlight

    Highlight with gold metallic paint.

  • 5 Cut stencil

Use an existing stencil, or cut your own using an XACTO knife.

  • 6 Paint monogram

Monogram your tag using black paint. Highlight the monogram with metallic gold.

  • 7 Add embellishments

Tie a bow with burlap ribbon and raffia. Attach pep berries to back of bow and glue onto tag.
