How to Make a Spooky Haunted House

Crafters beware! The eerie season has arrived and you can decorate with a Haunted House. Create die cut ghosts, a pumpkin and add spine-chilling lights to set the scene for a spooky Halloween!
  • 1 Prepare the house for the moonlights

Use an awl to poke a hole in the back of the upstairs, the downstairs and the back of the tower. The hole should be large enough to feed strands of moonlights through.

  • 2 Stain the house

Thin the black paint with water and stain the house. Let it dry.

  • 3 Dry brush the windows & doors

Dry brush the areas of the windows and doors with blue.

  • 4 Dry brush the roof

Dry brush areas of the roof with metallic silver and purple.

  • 5 Die cut the ghosts

Cut three of the die cut ghosts from white cardstock with the embossing machine.

  • 6 Complete creating the ghosts

Attach several layers of masking tape over the die cut ghosts' eyes and mouth. Cut three of the die cut ghosts from the blue and purple cardstock with the embossing machine. Attach each, using a tape runner, to the back of a white ghost, slightly offset. Glue eyes onto each ghost.

  • 7 Die cut two pumpkins

Die cut a pumpkin from copper cardstock with the embossing machine. Attach several layers of masking tape over the die cut eyes and mouth. Die cut another pumpkin from orange cardstock with the embossing machine. Glue on eyes.

  • 8 Complete creating the pumpkin

Use a tape runner to attach the orange pumpkin to the back of the copper pumpkin. Cut a rectangle to 1/2" x 1 1/2" from cardstock. Fold the rectange 1/2" from one end, making a tab. Glue the long side to the back of the pumpkin. Using the photo as a guide, glue the pumpkin tab to the base of the house.

  • 9 Attach the ghosts to the house

Glue two ghosts to the back sides of the house. Cut a 12" section of wire. Tape one end of the wire to the back of a ghost. Curve the wire and then wrap the bottom portion of the wire around the tower.

  • 10 Attach the moonlights to the house

Feed the moonlights through the back of the house and tape the battery packs to the back.
