How to Make a Patriotic Door Tag
Can't find the perfect patriotic wreath? Why not try a door tag! This Patriotic Door Tag is a simple project that will add an Americana touch to any front door or wall decor. Make it completely your own by experimenting with different colors, patterns and textures of ribbon.
Remove jute cording
Remove jute cording from the tag and set aside.
Cover tag in burlap
Cut 3 strips of burlap ribbon to cover the tag. Glue it in place and trim off any excess.
Glue red ribbon
Cover the center of the tag with 2" wide red ribbon and glue in place.
Glue blue ribbon
Attach 2 lengths of 5/8" wide blue ribbon to either side of the red ribbon.
Trim edges of tag
Trim the edges of the tag with red cording.
Paint star & bells
Touch up the star and 3 rusted bells with gold metallic paint and let dry completely.
String on bells
Cut a 24" long section of twine. String on 3 bells; tie 1 bell on the end, leave a 3" gap and knot between the remaining 2 bells.
Slide twine through hole
Use scissors to poke a hole in the burlap over the hole in the tag. Slide the end of the twine through to the back of the tag.
Attach star & bells
Slide the jute cord through the hole and attach the star onto the cord. Tie the ends of the cord together. Adjust the twine holding the bells, then tape or glue the twine to the back of the tag.
