How to Make a Felt Flower Cactus

Think warm thoughts and bring the desert lifestyle home by crafting your own Felt Flower Cactus! Grab a pot, fill it with shred and craft a not so prickly cactus.
  • 1 Create cactus cutouts

Stack two sheets of green felt on top of each other. Pin the paper cactus pattern through both sheets and cut through both layers of felt. Repeat this step three times to have three, two layer cactus cutouts.

  • 2 Glue one set of cutouts

Separate the two layers of one set of felt and run a straight line of glue at the center from top to bottom, gluing the two layers together on the center line.

  • 3 Create cactus shape

One side at a time, put glue all around the outside edge of the cactus shape and stick the two layers together. Make sure to leave the very bottom flat edge of the cactus open to fill with Poly-fil® later.

  • 4 Repeat steps 2 & 3

Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the other remaining sets of felt.

  • 5 Repeat step 2

Repeat step 2 using all three of the glued sets of felt. Let the glue dry completely.

  • 6 Stuff cactus

One at a time, open each of the six openings at the bottom of the cactus and stuff a handful of Poly-fil® into each one to fill up the six cactus channels. Use the eraser end of a pencil to gently push the stuffing up into the top of each channel until it is filled.

  • 7 Add foam to pot

Glue a floral foam clube down into the bottom of a clay pot.

  • 8 Add cactus to pot

Glue the bottom of the stuffed cactus onto the foam in the pot.

  • 9 Add shreds to pot

Stuff paper shreds all around the base of the cactus inside the pot.

  • 10 Add flower to cactus

Glue a small flower on the top of the cactus, centered.
