Paint 3 of the wood banner pieces using the desert sand paint.Then, paint 4 of the wood banner pieces using the light buttermilk paint.
Paint polka dots
Using the medium round foam brush and mustard seed paint, paint polka dots on 2 of the wood banner pieces you painted with light buttermilk paint. Gently dab your round foam brush in the paint and dab the excess paint off. Carefully press your round foam brush down on the wood banner piece and gently turn it to create full polka dots.
Stencil a design
Use stencil adhesive on the back of your chosen stencil according to the instructions on the package or use stencil tape to secure it in place. Apply the stencil to a wood banner piece painted with light buttermilk paint. Press the stencil down gently. Use the small round foam brush and cadmium orange paint to stencil the design. Gently dab your round foam brush in the paint and dab excess paint off before applying it to the stencil. This will ensure the design won't bleed. Continue moving the stencil around the wood banner piece. You will need to make 2 stenciled wood banner pieces.
Using stencil tape, create a large, thick stripe down the center of all 3 wood banner pieces that were painted with desert sand paint. Press down on the tape firmly to ensure the paint doesn't bleed.
Use a foam brush and dark chocolate paint to paint your stripe. Apply 2 coats of paint. Once dry, remove the stencil tape.
Create smaller stripes
Using the stencil tape, create 2 small stripes down each side of the middle, thick stripe. Press down on the stencil tape firmly to ensure the paint doesn't bleed.
Use the foam brush and the dark chocolate paint to paint your small stripes. Apply 2 coats of paint. Once dry, remove the stencil tape.
Using the enclosed jute twine, string all 7 wood banner pieces together and enjoy your new fall banner.
