How to Make a Hoop DIY Turkey

Let’s talk turkey about Thanksgiving decorations! Hoop crafts are simple to complete, and are also the perfect way to create an adorable DIY turkey to display at Thanksgiving dinner. You can even have the kids help create this simple turkey craft.
  • 1 Secure burlap

Secure a single layer of burlap in the 3” hoop and a double layer of mesh in the 6” hoop. Tighten the screws on each hoop and trim the material flush with the hoop backs.

  • 2 Glue the hoops

Hot glue the 3” hoop to the 6” hoop, covering its screw. Be sure the screw on the 3” hoop is located at about the 25 position on a clock.

  • 3 Add the beak & feet

Cut beak and feet shapes from the orange felt and a waddle shape from the red felt. Glue each shape in the appropriate location, using the waddle to cover the screw on the 3” hoop.

  • 4 Add google eyes

Glue on google eyes of choice.

  • 5 Secure the ribbon

Cut ribbon in 8” pieces. Fold the ribbon in half and glue the loops to the back of the 6” hoop behind the turkey’s head.
