How to Make Festive Gnomes

Christimas time is the perfect time to be jolly and these Festive Gnomes will surely get you in the holiday spirit! Each whimsical Gnome stands tall with its brightly colored hat, a long, flowy beard, a beady nose and plenty of decorative buttons.
  • 1 Paint the candle holders

Paint the wooden candle holders each a different color. Let dry.

  • 2 Create the gnomes hat

Print and cut out the template. Pin the gnome hat template to three colors of felt and cut them out. Create the hat shapes by gluing the back seams together.

  • 3 Create the hat band

For the hat band, cut the fur trim to be about 1 1/2" wide and about 8 1/2" in length. Fold in half lengthwise and glue the sides together to make a 3/4" x 8 1/2" band. Glue that strip to the hat with the seam in the back to make a hat band.

  • 4 Decorate the hat

Glue colorful buttons onto the hat and a jingle bell onto the point of the hat.

  • 5 Create the gnomes beard

Use 10" lengths of the white craft fluff to make a beard, braid or braided beard for the gnomes. Trim to the desire length and glue it into place onto the painted wood.

  • 6 Thin the gnomes beard

Thin the beard or braid out at the bottom edges by carefully pulling small sections down and off a little at a time. This will create a wispy look.

  • 7 Add the gnomes nose

Set the hat onto the gnome to determine placement for the nose. The nose should rest just below the fur hat edge. Separate the white fluff of the beard and glue the bead nose onto the painted wood surface.

  • 8 Attach the gnomes hat

Putting glue in just a few spots, tack the hat onto the gnome so that the fur hat band rests right on top of the nose.
