Three 3" Wooden Cutout Egg Shapes
Two 1.5" Wood Disks
Plastic Sponge Dabber
Paintbrushes
Sandpaper
Hot Glue

How to Make a Rustic Egg Sign

Bring the farmhouse feel home with this Rustic Egg Sign! This nostalgic and rustic sign is full of character and will look great in any kitchen setting.
  • 1 Paint the pallet

    Paint the pallet with water and thinned down brown and black paint. Let dry.

  • 2 Dry brush paint & sand

    Dry brush white paint onto the pallet. Let dry. Sand the surface and edges of the pallet.

  • 3 Add grey paint

    Go over the pallet with a wash of thinned down grey paint. Wipe it down with a rag.

  • 4 Base coat eggs

    Base coat 2 of the eggs with the coffee bean colored paint and one egg with the shrimp colored paint. Let dry.

  • 5 Paint two eggs

    Mix a 3:1 ratio of the white and sky blue colored paints. Paint this mixture over the shrimp colored egg and one other egg, allowing some of the background color to show through. Let dry.

  • 6 Paint third egg

    Mix a 3:1 ratio of the true blue and white colored paints. Paint this mixture over the third egg, allowing some of the background color to show through. Let dry.

  • 7 Sand & splatter eggs

    Sand the surfaces and the edges of the eggs. dip the dabber in a small amount of the black paint and rub along some of the edges of the eggs. Splatter eggs with some thinned down white paint. Let dry.

  • 8 Add "EGGS" with stencil

    Using the photo as a guide, position the stencils onto the pallet to spell out the word EGGS. Hold the stencil in place, use the dabber to apply black paint. Let each letter dry before doing the next one. Sand over the surface.

  • 9 Arrange & glue eggs

    Arrange and glue the eggs below the letters. Glue two wood circles to the back of one egg to add dimension.
