How to Make a DIY Tassel Necklace

You don't have to shell out big bucks or spend lots of time to make a trending tassel necklace! Even inexperienced jewelry crafters can learn how to make a colored tassel out of floss and string it onto a stylish necklace.
  • 1 Loop floss

Loop 20, 6" strands of floss.

  • 2 Slide floss through jump ring

Slide floss through a 10mm jump ring. Bring floss ends together, hold jump ring and tug on the floss ends to even them up.

  • 3 Tie & wrap another color floss

Cut another color of floss about 12". Tie floss around the section of floss below the jump ring. Wrap about 8 times and knot. Trim excess.

  • 4 Trim bottom

Trim bottom section of the tassel so ends are even.

  • 5 Bead & trim eye pin

Slide an acrylic bead onto an eye pin along with a round bead. Bend pin close to the bead and trim pin leaving 1/4". Bend and loop end with round nose pliers.

  • 6 Attach jump ring

Twist open an end of the eye pin and attach the jump ring on tassel. Twist the eye pin closed.

  • 7 Cut chain

Cut a length of chain 18" to 22". Attach a jump ring and lobster clasp to each end.

  • 8 Attach beaded eye pin

Attach a jump ring to the beaded eye pin and attach to the chain.
