How to Make a Mixed Chain Drop Necklace

Create the perfect combination of edgy and elegant with this chain necklace. The hematite chains give the necklace a modern feel, but feminine pearls and rhinestones keep it cute for any occasion. Practice your skills with head pins and eye pins, and try making this necklace yourself.
  • 1 Cut gold chain

Cut a 15" section of chunky gold chain.

  • 2 Cut gold chain

Cut 5 sections of chunky gold chain into 1 1/2" pieces.

  • 3 Cut silver chain

Cut 4 sections of silver chain into 2 1/2" pieces.

  • 4 Cut hematite chain

Cut 4 sections of hematite chain into 3" pieces.

  • 5 String gold pearls

String 2 gold pearls on an eye pin and 1 gold pearl on a head pin. Bead, trim and loop the pins, then connect the 2 together. String 3 more head and eye pins with the gold pearls.

  • 6 String eye pins

String 4 sets of eye pins with 3 pink pearls connected to a head pin with a pink pearl.

  • 7 Add rhinestone chain

Cut 6 sections of the rhinestone chain into 2 1/2" and 3" long pieces. Put a drop of bead fix on an end crimp, place the last 2 rhinestones into the end crimp and squeeze the slide together to hold the links in place.

  • 8 Attach to hematite chain

Cut a 6.5" strand of hematite chain. Attach the bead and chain strands to the hematite chain using jump rings.

  • 9 Connect with oval links

Use oval links to connect the hematite chain to the gold chain.
