How to Make a Rhinestone Statement Necklace Set

Every girl needs a little bling, but some need a lot! Cover yourself in gems for your big event or next night out when you make this Rhinestone Statement Necklace Set. Looking for something not as flashy? Just make the earrings, bracelet or necklace on its own.

  • 1 For the necklace:

Cut 2, 6 1/2" lengths of chain. Attach a lobster clasp and jump ring to the ends for the clasp. Attach 2 jump rings on both sides of the other ends of the chain.

  • 2 Pick & lay out rhinestones

Pick colors of rhinestones and lay them out in the pattern shown in the picture.

  • 3 String stones

Crimp a 5" length of wire to the jump ring on the left chain. String through the top holes of an oval rhinestone, diamond, oval, diamond and then through the bottom hole and opposite top hole of an oval.

  • 4 Loop wire & crimp

Slide a crimp onto the wire and push it next to the last rhinestone. Do not forcefully push the rhinestones together - lay the necklace flat on the table to guage the tension for the crimp. Loop the wire back through the crimp creating a 1/8" loop for a decorative finish and crimp it shut. Trim excess wire.

  • 5 Repeat Steps 3 & 4

Repeat Steps 3 and 4, beginning by creating a crimped loop at the end of the wire. This time string it through the top and then bottom of the last oval, the top of a diamond, oval, diamond and then through the bottom and top of an oval.

  • 6 Reverse Step 3

Repeat Step 3 in reverse, beginning by creating a crimped loop, and stringing through the top hole and opposite bottom hole of the last oval, ending through the top holes of an oval and crimping to the last jump ring on the other chain.

  • 7 Crimp wire & slide through

Crimp the end of a 4" wire. Slide through the bottom hole of the leftmost diamond from Step 3, the top of a new diamond, the bottom of the oval from Step 3, the top of a new diamond and the bottom of the right diamond from Step 3. Crimp the wire close to the rhinestone and trim the excess wire.

  • 8 Repeat Step 7

Repeat Step 7 twice more starting with the leftmost free diamond on the remaining rhinestone clusters.

  • 9 Crimp wire & slide through

Crimp the end of a 4" wire. Slide through the bottom of the leftmost diamond from Step 7, the top of 2 new ovals and the bottom of the diamond from Step 7. Crimp the wire close to the last rhinestone and trim excess wire.

  • 10 Repeat Step 9

Repeat Step 9 twice more, starting with the leftmost diamond on the remaining rhinestone clusters.

  • 11 Crimp wire & slide through

Crimp the end of a 3" wire. Slide through the bottom of the leftmost oval from Step 9, the top of a new diamond and the top of an oval from Step 9. Crimp the wire close to the last rhinestone and trim excess wire.

  • 12 Repeat Step 11

Repeat Step 11 twice more on the remaining rhinestone clusters.

  • 13 Attach felt

If desired, cut felt to the shape of the necklace. Use jewel or bead glue to attach to the back of the rhinestones.

  • 14 For the earrings:

Slide 2 crystals, the top of a diamond and 2 crystals onto an eyepin. Bend the wire after the last crystal at a 90 degree angle. Trim down to 1/4" and create a loop with the round nose pliers.

  • 15 Attach chain

Cut 2" of chain. Attach each end to the loops on the beaded pin.

  • 16 Attach earring finding

Attach an earring finding to the center of the chain with a jump ring.

  • 17 Repeat

    Repeat for the second earring.

  • 18 For the bracelet:

Cut 2, 12" lengths of stretch cord. Slide a crystal, the top of a diamond rhinestone, a crystal and the top of an oval rhinestone onto a cord. Repeat until strand measures 7 1/2". Tie a knot to secure the bracelet. Dab with bead glue for extra security.

  • 19 Repeat

Repeat last step, stringing only crystals and sliding the cord through the bottom holes of the rhinestones.
