Fold & cut plates
Fold 2 plates in half and cut along the fold line. You will use 3 plate halves to form the dragon's wings. Cut a scalloped edge along the cut edge.
Fold & punch holes
Fold each piece in half. Punch 2 holes along the fold line on each half.
Apply paint dots
Use a sponge dabber to apply paint dots to the 3 wings. Set aside to dry.
Cut 3 sections of red ribbon 4" long. Cut ends into dovetails.
Make the dragon's face
Take a 15mm stem and wrap the end around a 40mm pom for the head. Slide a ribbon between the pom and chenille for a fire mouth. Glue on the wiggle eyes and 2 half round eyes for the nostrils.
Slide the stem
With the curved side of the plate close to the head, slide the other end of the stem up and over then down through the holes on the wing plate.
Wrap the tail
Wrap the tail end around a 20mm pom.
Make arms and legs
Cut a 6mm stem in half. Twist the 2 stems around the body for arms and legs.
Repeat steps to make 2 more dragons.
Attach middle dragon
Cut a 24" length of bakers twine, tie one end at 10" down to the center of the dowel rod and the other end to the center of the dragon.
Attach end dragons
Cut 2, 16" length of bakers twine. Tie the centers onto each end of the dowel rod and then tie a dragon onto each.
Tie all the top ends of twine together and tie a ring at the end for hanging.
