How to Make a Puppet Pillar

Create your own Puppet Pillar! This bright caterpillar is easy to craft with its pom poms and googly eyes and it will be wiggling and dancing all season long in no time!
  • 1 Create caterpillar

Cut a 24" length of hemp cord and slide eight pom beads ont the center of the cord.

  • 2 Arrange & secure caterpillar

Center the poms on the cord. Take the cord by the head pom and bring it back across the pom and tie a square knot right behind the head to secure that end of the caterpillar.

  • 3 Continue arranging & securing caterpillar

Snug all eight of the beads next to each other on the cord with no gaps in between. Bring the other untied end of the cord back across the outsid of the pom head. Slide the end of the cord through the second from the last pom bead and tie a square knot on the center of the cord to secure that end of the caterpillar.

  • 4 Add caterpillar to stick

Tie each end of the cord to each end of a craft stick and center the caterpillar. Trim off any extra length with scissors. Secure both cord ends to the craft stick with glue.

  • 5 Add eyes to caterpillar

Glue two eyes onto the caterpillar head.

  • 6 Make caterpillar dance

Animate the caterpillar and make it dance by tipping the craft stick in different directions!
