How to Make Dry Embossed DIY Cards
Everyone appreciates the special sentimental nature of a handmade greeting card! Paper crafting can be intimidating, but there is no reason to get overwhelmed with these simple, step-by-step instructions for creating classic dry embossed greeting cards for every occasion.
Place cardstock in the embossing folder
Select the colors you would like to use for your cards and place them into the embossing folder one at a time. Make sure the cardstock is centered. When using an embossing folder both the paper and the manufacturer’s name on the folder should be side-up.
Run through embossing machine
Run the folder containing the cardstock through the embossing machine. Remove the embossed cardstock.
Sand the embossed areas
Use a Sand It Gadget tool or sandpaper to sand the embossed areas of cardstock so the lighter core is visible.
Remove cardstock dust
Use the Sand It Gadget’s accompanying Dust Buddy cloth, which is specially treated to remove cardstock dust, glitter and embossing powder, to clean the sanded cardstock.
Attach to the base
Use an adhesive runner to attach the embossed and sanded cardstock to the card base.
