How to Make a Paper Star Banner
String up some stars for your next barbecue! These dimensional paper stars at the perfect decoration for any summer get together. String them up inside or outside at every one of your star spangled events.
Lay the paper face down on your work surface. Place the star template on your paper and trace the shape with a pencil. Repeat with the other sheet of paper. Trace 3 stars on each sheet.
Cut out stars
Cut out the stars with scissors or an XACTO knife.
Lay a star facedown onto a scoring board. Line up the top point and the bottom center onto the same groove line. Hold the star in place and use a bone folder or stylus to score the star. Turn the star so the next point is on the groove line and score the star. Repeat with all points.
Fold & create pleats
Fold the star along all the score lines. Create pleats so the star is dimensional.
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 with the rest of the stars.
Glue on buttons
Glue buttons to the center of each star.
Cut a 50" section of cording. Make a small loop at each end and knot.
Knot the cording
Tie a knot in the cording about 6" from either end. Leave a 1/2" space and knot again. Leave a 4" space and knot. Repeat on the remainer of the cord.
Attach stars with jump rings
Punch a small hole near the point of each star. Twist open a jump ring, slide on a star and attach it to the cord between the knots. Repeat with the rest of the stars to complete the banner.
