How to Make a Spring Bloom 3D Card

You can use this fun 3D technique whenever you craft with metal dies, or even quality craft punches! You'll be shocked once you learn how simple it is to create beautiful, dimensional cards with this quick trick. Before you know it, you'll be incorporating it into all of your paper crafts.

  • 1 Die cut flowers Die cut flower shapes

Die cut flowers from the Kraft Core cardstock colors of your choice, we used lime green, aqua, cream and brown. Make sure that when you cut your dies, you place the Kraft Core cardstock colored side down. For the flower shape, cut a flower in both green and aqua for different layers.

  • 2 Die cut oval Die cut oval shape

For the oval frame, cut just one shape out of cream Kraft Core. The outer ring and center of the oval frame are separate pieces, so you can choose to add a different color to the center of the frame if desired.

  • 3 Die cut cardboard shapes Die cut cardboard shapes

Using a discarded cereal box or other piece of thin cardboard, cut all of your dies again including two of the flower and one of the oval frame.

  • 4 Layer cut shapes Layer green flowers

Beginning with the flower, add adhesive to a cut cardboard piece. Add the green flower to the top of the cardboard flower.

  • 5 Layer flowers Trim and layer flowers

Trim the flowers from the second cardboard flower piece. Using adhesive, layer the cardboard flowers on top of the green flower shape.

  • 6 Adhere blue flowers Adhere blue flowers

Adhere the cut blue flowers on top of the cardboard flowers.

  • 7 Repeat with oval frame

Repeat this technique for the outer ring of the oval frame, however, do not add cardboard to the center part of the oval frame to help create dimension.

  • 8 Trim Kraft Core to base Trim Kraft Core to base

Trim a section of brown Kraft Core to fit the top of a kraft A2 card base with a little bit of a kraft border showing.

  • 9 Emboss Kraft Core Emboss Kraft Core

If desired, emboss the Kraft Core. Be sure to place it into your embossing folder facing upward.

  • 10 Sand each piece Sand Kraft Core

Sand section of embossed Kraft Core to bring up the kraft colored core. Sand oval frame and flower pieces if desired.

  • 11 Position & adhere outer ring Position and adhere outer ring

Position oval frame in the center of the card. Adhere outer ring of frame.

  • 12 Insert & adhere center frame Insert & adhere center frame

Insert and adhere the center of oval frame. Since the whole frame was one die it will nest perfectly.

  • 13 Add a kraft tag Add a kraft tag

Add a sentiment to a small kraft tag and tie the tag onto the flowers using twine. Wrap the twine around the flower stems several times to make it look like a hand-picked bundle.

  • 14 Adhere flowers Adhere flowers

Adhere the flowers to the center of the oval frame. Add a couple of small adhesive pearls into the holes of the flower centers.
