How to Make a Shabby Chic Wedding Card Box

Collect all the cards and well wishes from your wedding or event in one convenient – and trendy – place! Make this Shabby Chic Wedding Card Box on a budget with just some paper mache boxes, paint and embellishments.

  • 1 Paint a base coat

Paint a base coat on all 3 paper mache boxes using paint in a color of your choice. Let boxes dry completely.

  • 2 Mist the glossy wood tone

Mist the glossy wood tone over the base coat and let dry.

  • 3 Glue boxes

Glue the boxes together using a hot glue gun.

  • 4 Trim with burlap

Trim the top of the boxes with burlap.

  • 5 Wrap with beaded wire

Wrap the beaded wire twice around each burlap strip.

  • 6 Wrap with lace

Cut a length of lace to wrap around the center of the top box. Tie the lace into place with a knot.

  • 7 Wrap bottom box

Wrap the bottom box with lace overlapping. Secure with glue on the backside.

  • 8 Peel and stick

Peel and stick the letters onto tags to spell out “CARDS.”

  • 9 Arrange & glue

Arrange and glue the tags onto the middle box beneath the burlap.

  • 10 Add embellishments

Embellish all of the boxes with butterflies.
