How to Make a Knit Lap Throw
Cozy, colorful and cute, a Knit Lap Throw is a great blanket to snuggle up with during the cold. Pick out your favorite color of All Things You® yarn and follow these step by step instructions. Soon enough, you will have a comfy Knit Lap Throw to keep you warm!
Gauge:11 sts x 16 rows = 4 in (10 cm) in lace chevron stitch. Be sure to check your gauge!
Measurements: 39” (99 cm) Square
Knitting is worked back and forth. A circular needle is used to accommodate size of project.
There are 4 knit stitches at the beginning and end of every row.
K2tog= knit 2 stitches together
yo= yarn over
ssk= slip, slip, slip, knit 3 stitches together
Lace Chevron (multiple of 11 sts)
Rows 1 - 30
Row 1 (RS): *K2tog, k4, yo, k5; rep from * across.
Row 2, 4, 6 & 8: Knit.
Row 3: *K2tog, k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, ssk; rep from * across.
Row 5: *K2tog, k2, yo, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k2, ssk; rep from * across.
Row 7: *K2tog, k1, (yo, k2tog) twice, (yo, k1) twice, ssk; rep from * across.
Row 9: *(K2tog, yo) 4 times, k1, yo, ssk; rep from * across.
Row 10: Knit.
Rep Rows 1-10 for pattern.
Color sequence (30 rows)
Rows 1-20: Work rows 1-10 twice in A.
Rows 21-30: Work rows 1-10 once in B.
Using circular needles and B, cast on loosely 107 sts. Knit 2 rows. Begin Lace Chevron pattern, cutting yarn for each stripe. Row 1: K4, work row 1 of Lace Chevron to last 4 sts, k4. Continue working k4 for first and last four sts of every row and Lace Chevron on 99 center sts.
Work even until blanket measures 39”, ending after 18 rows of A. Using B, work rows 19 & 20 of last repeat. Bind off loosely.
Weave in ends.
