How to Make a Macramé Mason Jar
Transform an everyday household item into a fresh piece of home decor with the help of Macramé! A Macramé Mason Jar makes for a great addition to a picnic or a perfect gift for that friend who loves using mason jars for everything!
*Project made with All Things You™ Wool Blend Yarn in: Mushroom
Cut a 16'' section of yarn to wrap around the top of the jar.
Cut, fold & slide yarn
Cut ten 32'' sections of yarn. Fold each section in half and fold that over the 16'' yarn section. Slide the ends of that section through its loop, pull to form a knot.
Spread & wrap yarn
Spread the knotted sections along the 16'' piece so they are about 1'' apart. Wrap the 16'' yarn section around the top of the jar and knot.
For the first row, take one yarn length and one length from the next section and knot together about 1'' down from the top of the jar. Continue all the way around the first row.
Continue knotting yarn
For the second row, grab two lengths of yarn to make a diamond shape, knot them together. Continue all the way around.
Continue creating diamond shapes
Continue to make diamond shapes down and around the jar.
Cut & tie yarn
Cut a new section of yarn, slightly smaller than the circumference of the bottom of the jar. Tie the ends together to form a circle.
Grab two lengths of the knotted yarn and tie them to the bottom circle of yarn. Continue with the remaining lengths.
Trim the yarn ends.
Warp top of jar
Wrap the top og the jar with another piece of yarn, knot and tuck under to hide the knot.
