How to Make a Yarn Wrapped Lamp & DIY Lamp Shade

Make any room just a little bit cozier with a Yarn Wrapped Lamp and DIY Lamp Shade! Even a beginning crafter can make this bright and creative yarn project using their favorite colored bulky yarn, a wire lamp shade and a mason jar light.

  • 1 Paint mason jar

Paint the inside of the mason jar using acrylic paint of choice and let dry completely.

  • 2 Wrap yarn into ball

Wrap yarn into a ball approximately the size of a baseball. This will make it easier to wrap in and out of the lamp shade.

  • 3 Attach & wrap yarn

Attach the yarn to the lamp shade and vertically wrap the entire shade in yarn.

  • 4 Wrap a portion of the jar

Use a dab of hot glue to attach an end of yarn to the jar. Wrap a portion of the jar in yarn, then use a dab of hot glue to secure the end of the yarn.

  • 5 Attach lamp adapter

Attach the lamp adapter to the jar.

  • 6 Install light bulb & place shade

Install a low wattage light blub into the adapter and place the shade on the bulb.
