How to Make a Poured Paint Canvas

Want to try out the new poured paint trend? We've supplied a list of supplies and step by step instructions on how to take a blank canvas and turn it into a paint masterpiece. These make for great wall decor pieces!
  • 1 Cover surface

Cover your work surface as paint will drip all over.

  • 2 Elevate your canvas

Use disposable cups to elevate your canvas above the work surface.

  • 3 Stir paint

In another disposable cup, add approximately 1tbsp. of paint. Pour Liquitex® medium or glazing medium and add enough water to make paint as thick as coffee creamer. Stir until there are no lumps in the paint mixture. Do this with each color.

  • 4 Add glitter

Glitter can be added to the glazing medium or by pouring glitter and medium in a cup.

  • 5 Pour paint

Pour 3 puddles of one color of paint on the canvas. Pour another color in the center of each puddle and continue adding colors or the glitter mixture into the center of each circle. Paint will pour over the edges of the canvas.

  • 6 Mix paint puddles together

Run two fingers or a jumbo craft stick through the puddles of paint, lightly mixing them together.

  • 7 Tilt canvas

Pick the canvas up and tilt it to allow the paint to mix. Paint will pour over the edge of the canvas.

  • 8 Let dry

Place the canvas back on the cups and allow to drip and dry overnight.
