How to Make Plaster Dipped Silk Flowers
Try out this twist on traditional silk flowers! Plaster dipped silk flowers are an elegant accessory to a wedding or event. These flowers are so simple to make, but you can be sure guests will marvel at their unique glamour!
-
1
Mix plaster
Mix the plaster in a tall bowl, keeping the mixture thinner than the provided instructions suggest.
-
2
Add dye
Add a few drops of Rit dye to the plaster and mix well. The die will continue to darken as it dries.
-
3
Dip flowers
Dip a flower in the plaster mixture, and then twirl it in a bowl to get rid of any excess plaster.
-
4
Lay flat or hang upside down
Allow the flowers to dry lying flat, or hanging upside down depending on the desired shape.
-
5
Let dry
Let the flowers dry for 24 hours.
-
6
Apply Mod Podge
To prevent the plaster from chipping, apply 2 or more thick coats of Mod Podge by brushing it onto the flower. Let the glue dry completely between coats.
