Paper Mache Box with 25 Compartments
Folk Art® Multi-Surface Classic Green Paint
Cardstock: Primary Green, Primary Red, White, Lap of Luxury
Cricut® or Die-Cutting Machine of Choice
Cuttlebug or Embossing Machine of Choice
Embossing Folders: Snowflakes, Holly
Stamp Pads: White, Green, Gold
Tombow Glue
Sponge Dauber

How to Make an Advent Calendar

Countdown to Christmas with your own Advent Calendar! Learn how to use die-cutting and embossing machines to create a one-of-a-kind decoration piece for any festive space.
  • 1 Paint box

    Remove the compartments from the box. Paint the box green and let dry.

  • 2 Cut cardstock

    Cut twenty-five 2" squares using the red and green cardstock.

  • 3 Cut scalloped edge squares

    Cut twenty-five 1.3" scalloped edge squares using the red, green and white cardstock with a die-cutting machine.

  • 4 Cut numbers out

    Cut the numbers 1 through 25 from black and red cardstock with a die-cutting machine.

  • 5 Emboss scalloped squares

    Emboss the scalloped squares using an embossing machine.

  • 6 Ink embossed squares

    With the photo as a guide, use a dauber to ink over the embossed squares. Ink the edges of the squares.

  • 7 Glue pieces to compartments

    Glue a square and a complimentary scallop to each compartment.

  • 8 Add numbers

    Place the compartments into the box and glue the numbers onto each one.
