Mod Podge (regular or for fabric)

How to Make a DIY Fabric Pumpkin

There are probably hundreds of different things you can do with pumpkins to create that perfect vignette, but when you want something particular to you taste in color, pattern, and style; these cute fabric covered pumpkins are just the ticket! The final style will be entirely up to the type of fabric you choose. Who says pumpkins have to be orange? Pick your favorite unique color and pattern and get started!
  • 1 Measure and cut fabric DIY Fabric Pumpkin

    Eyeball how tall your fabric strips need to be to wrap around from the stem to the base of your pumpkin. Cut approximately 1" wide strips, enough to span your pumpkin. 

  • 2 Brush on Mod Podge Brush Mod Podge

    Brush on a thick layer of Mod Podge onto one or two pumpkin bumps. Don't Mod Podge the entire thing, you'll want to only add it as you go. 

  • 3 Place on fabric strips DIY Fabric Pumpkin

    Place on fabric strips from the base of the stem down to the bottom middle. Continue to add strips overlapping each other. 

  • 4 Wrap stem with ribbon Wrap stem with ribbon

    Cut one or two small pieces of elastic ribbon to cover the top. Wrap the elastic ribbon around the top and work your way down. Tie off the final piece with a simple loop.
