How to Make a Hello Fall Chalkboard Sign

Hello, fall! Welcome in the season with a festive Chalkboard Sign, courtesy of EnWreathed! Use paint, colorful garland and chalk to create a simple yet beautiful decoration for any front door or wall.
  • 1 Protect work area

Protect working area. Spray paint and hot glue will be used.

  • 2 Prepare the frame

Carefully remove the glass from the picture frame, paying close attention not to break or cut yourself due to the sharp edges.

  • 3 Paint the picture frame

Using the black chalkboard paint, carefully spray one side of the glass. Make sure the surface is smooth with no drip marks. Once this side is completely dry, spray paint the other side. Spraying both sides helps ensure all surfaces are covered and no glass can be seen if scratched.

  • 4 Reassemble the frame

Proceed replacing the glass and cardboard backing to the frame.

  • 5 Attach the fall garland

Unwrap the fall garland and position around the frame. Place the base behind the frames 4 corners. Secure in place by stapling to the frame as shown. Allow the remaining garland accents to surround the front of the frame.

  • 6 Reshape the garland

Reshape the garland pieces by wrapping around your finger to create a coiled look or simply make a circle. The garland branches can be shaped to your liking.

  • 7 Prepare the picks

Separate the fall pumpkin picks and cut at the base. Leaves and pumpkins will be used as accents.

  • 8 Accentuate the frame

Using hot glue, apply to the leaf and place on the bottom right corner of the chalkboard. Do the same for the pumpkin. The look should be layered with the leaf behind the pumpkin.

  • 9 Continue accentuating

Apply hot glue to the cut leaves and place at the top of the left corner. Layer the leaves on top of each other on the chalkboard glass and frame.

  • 10 Cut & attach the ribbon

Cut 1 yard of ribbon and loop through the back picture hooks on the frame and tie into a bow.

  • 11 Write on the chalkboard

Using the chalf, write "Hello Fall" on your newly created sign!
