How to Make an Americana Paint Pour

Display red, white and blue during the upcoming holiday celebrations and create your own trendy Americana Paint Pour! This project can be a bit messy so be sure to be prepared, but more importantly, have fun painting this abstract patriotic design!
  • 1 Protect work area

Cover your work area with the plastic tablecloth. Prop the MDF USA cutout onto the disposable cups.

  • 2 Set up and add paint to cups

Set up a cup for each color of paint. Add about two teaspoons of paint into each cup.

  • 3 Add glue to cups

Squeeze about 6 teaspoons of glue into each cup, mix well with a craft stick. Add small amounts of water and mix until you have the consistency of cream. Add more glue if the mixture is too runny.

  • 4 Add glitter

Pour half of the glitter container into a cup and add glue and water. Mix well.

  • 5 Begin painting

Pour several stripes of one color across the USA cutout.

  • 6 Repeat

Repeat with the remaining colors, overlapping where possible.

  • 7 Mix it all up

Wearing the disposable gloves, lift the USA cutout up and tilt it up then sideways and then down, allowing the paint to flow, which will cover the USA cutout and flow over the sides.

  • 8 Prop and add paint

Prop the cutout back onto the cups. Use a craft stick to add some of the dripped paint to the sides.

  • 9 Allow to dry

Allow the painting to completely dry overnight.

  • 10 Add resin

Follow the instructions for the resin and apply to the USA cutout. Let dry for 24-48 hours.
