How to Make a Firecracker Stakes

Summer is almost here and that means a season full of Patriotic holidays! What better way to celebrate than with your own Firecracker Stakes. These are perfect to add to your patriotic theme for a backyard barbecue or to fill any space in your home.
  • 1 Cut stake

Cut 8" off from the bottom of one stake, on an angle.

  • 2 Wipe signs & stakes

Wipe the signs and stakes with a damp cloth or brush to wet them.

  • 3 Add brown paint

Apply some brown paint onto a cloth and wipe it onto all of the wood pieces, stakes and stars. Let dry.

  • 4 Paint slats

Paint two of the slats blue and two of the slats red. Let dry.

  • 5 Paint stars & stripes

Use a dry brush to paint the stars and diagonal stripes on the red signs with white. Sprinkle glitter on the stars and stripes while the paint is wet.

  • 6 Glue stars & add twine

Glue two stars to each of the blue slats. Wrap the bottom portions with some twine. Wrap the top portions on the red and white slats with the twine.

  • 7 Add rope

Cut four 4" sections of rope. Glue one to the back top center of each firecracker. Untwist the top of the rope slightly.

  • 8 Hot glue firecrackers

Hot glue the blue firecrackers onto the red and white ones at an angle. Glue the firecrackers onto the stakes at an angle.

  • 9 Glue stars

Glue some stars onto the top portion of the stakes.

  • 10 Arrange stakes in foam

Cut floral foam to fit into the bucket. Arrange the stakes in the foam and cover the foam with rocks.
