How to Make a Holdiay Hairbow or Bowtie

Accessorize your holiday outfit with a fashionable St. Patrick's Day or Easter Hair or Bowtie! Create this snazzy accessory using colorful seasonal fabric, chenille stems and a clip. The ties are easy to make and you'll be ready for your holiday party or family gathering in no time!
  • 1 Create tie

Pin the bow pattern to fabric and cutout the 5" x 6" piece.

  • 2 Glue hems

Lay fabric with backside facing up and glue a 3/8" hem first on the two 6" sides, then on the two 5" sides. Let dry.

  • 3 Create accordion pleat

Make an accordion pleat by folding lengthwise back and forth six times and hold pleats at center of bow.

  • 4 Tie with chenille stem

Next, take a 5" length chenille stem and wrap it snuggly around the center of the bow 3-4 times and twist ends together. Then bend twisted ends to one side on the backside to make the center of the bow.

  • 5 Add hair clip

Slide half of an opened hair clip under the wrapped chenille stem center.
