How to Make Rooster Art

This Rooster Art brings the farmhouse feel to your home! Decorate a rustic pallet complete with a painted wooden rooster and a mossy nest full of eggs. Once complete, hang the pallet in the kitchen or on any wall throughout your house.

  • 1 Paint the pallet

Thin the Arrowhead paint with water and paint the pallet. Brush water over several sections of the pallet to lighten the paint. While it is still wet, brush White and Summer Haze paint over those areas. Set the pallet aside to dry.

  • 2 Paint the rooster

Apply a basecoat to the rooster using the Arrowhead paint and let dry. Paint the rooster white, allowing the basecoat to show through along the edges. Thin some of the Summer Haze paint with water and brush it on near the edges. Let dry.

  • 3 Create the nest

Cut a 12" long section of the chicken wire ribbon with wire cutters. Overlap the long ends and bend the wires together forming a tube. Turn the tube and connect the bottom wires together. Manipulate the wire by pushing in the bottom corners and slightly flattening the wire into a cup shape that is 5" wide by 3" high with a 3" bottom.

  • 4 Attach the nest to the rooster

Position the wire onto the rooster and mark two horls with an awl. Remove the wire and use the awl to push through the two holes. Place the chicken wire back onto the rooster and attach it with floral wire. Twist the wire together on the back of the rooster. Trim off the excess wire. Hot glue several wood circles to the back of the rooster. Position the rooster onto the pallet and glue into place.

  • 5 Cover the nest with moss

Cover the chicken wire with sheet moss and add some eggs inside the wire basket.
