How to Make Solar Mason Jar Lights

Brighten up your home or garden with sparking, twinkling mason jars, completely powered by the sun! Set your jars out during the day and get ready to enjoy the light all evening long. Whether you make an assortment for a special occasion, or you simply use these lights as everyday decor they're a fun DIY addition.

  • 1 Pull tab & charge solar lid Pull tab & charge solar lid

    Remove the pull tab on your solar light and charge it for a few hours in the sun prior to first use.

  • 2 Mod Podge & glitter jar Mod Podge & Glitter Jar

    Use foam pouncer brush to cover the mason jar in Mod Podge. Sprinkle glitter on top and let dry completely.

  • 3 Loop floral wire Loop floral wire

    To make the jars into lanterns, start by using pliers to add a loop to the floral wire.

  • 4 Create a second loop Create a second loop

    Place the wire around the jar mouth and create a second loop directly across from the first.

  • 5 Stretch & secure wire Stretch & secure wire

    Stretch the wire around the mouth of the jar. Use the pliers to secure it, twisting very tightly.

  • 6 Cut & bend excess wire Cut & bend excess wire

    Cut off any excess and bend the twisted wire down to avoid injury.

  • 7 Make wire handle Make wire handle

    Use another wire to create a handle. String it through the loops and twist to secure.
