How to Make a Wizard Gnome

Abracadabra! Decorate for fall with a wise old Wizard Gnome. This spellbinding Wizard stands tall with his crescent moon pointy hat, a long, flowy beard, a beady nose and magical staff.
  • 1 Cut out the wizard's templates

Cut out the beard, stars, body, moon and hat templates. Trace the hat onto the blue felt and the body onto the fabric. Cut out the shapes.

  • 2 Create the wizard's body

Place the cone onto the fabric, roll and glue it in place. Tuck the extra fabric up inside the cone and glue in place.

  • 3 Create the wizard's beard

Cut a section of fur for the beard and glue it onto the cone.

  • 4 Create the wizard's hat

Glue a back seam of the felt to form a hat. Fold the bottom edge up. Place the hat onto the gnome. Cut out a crescent moon and stars from the mint felt and glue them onto the hat.

  • 5 Add the wizard's nose

Glue a bead nose onto the beard just under the brim of the hat.

  • 6 Cut the dowel rod

Cut a dowel rod down to 7" with an X-Acto® Knife to make the staff.

  • 7 Create the wizard's staff

Take a hot glue stick and cut a 2" section with an X-Acto® Knife. Stand the section up and use the X-Acto® Knife to cut the sides and angle the top to create the crystal topper. Glue the bottom of the crystal to one end of the dowel rod. Hot glue around the base of the crystal and down around the dowel rod to form a twisty staff shape.

  • 8 Paint the wizard's staff

Paint the dowel rod and around the crystal base black. Let it dry and then dry brush with metallic silver paint. Add some orange or gold glitter to the staff.

  • 9 Attach the wizard's staff

Attach the staff to the wizard's body using hot glue.
