How to Make a Decorative Gingerbread Lantern

This Decorative Gingerbread Lantern is sweeter than a gingerbread cookie! Between the striking black lantern and plaid ribbon accents, it's the perfect rustic Christmas decoration. Use this lantern as a centerpiece, table accent or even as an outdoor decoration on a porch or front step.

  • 1 Remove glass

    Remove glass from the lantern.

  • 2 Make a bow

Create a 9" bow with #40 ribbon and #9 red velvet ribbon.

  • 3 Lay the bow inside

Lay the bow inside the lantern with loops and tails sticking out.

  • 4 Add a candle

Place the candle behind the bow. Tuck a gingerbread man into the bow.

  • 5 Add a ribbon loop

Cut 2 lengths of #3 and #40 ribbon, each about 24" long. Lay the #3 ribbon over the #40 ribbon and fold in half. Pinch to create a loop with 2 tails and secure in place on the lantern handle with a chenille stem.
