How to Make a Hometown Love Map Necklace

Keep your hometown close to your heart with a handmade Hometown Love Map Necklace! Find a map of your favorite place, cut it to fit your frame charm and attach it to a chain. For an extra accent, add a rhinestone or colored heart over a specific city on the map.
  • 1 Choose a map

Choose a map of your hometown, college or favorite vacation spot. The city name on the map should be no larger than the size of the frame, so you may need to scan the image into your computer and resize it.

  • 2 Position map

Lay the map on the cutting mat. Open the frame or take the plastic backing off of your charm. Lay the glass or protective cover over the part of the map that you would like to be in the pendant. Be careful to touch the cover or glass as little as possible to keep it clean.

  • 3 Trim map

Use the cutting knife to trim the map to the shape of the glass piece or backing.

  • 4 Secure map

Either sandwich the map in between the two glass pieces and put them back in the metal frame, or cover the inside of the frame charm with double-sided tape and place the adhesive cover and map in the frame on top of tape.

  • 5 Attach jump rings

Attach 2 jump rings to the loop on the frame using flat nose pliers.

  • 6 Slide charm on chain

Open the chain and slide the 2 jump rings onto the chain.
