How to Make a Multicolor Ribbon Hair Bow

This brightly colored bow makes any hairstyle a little bit more fun, plus even beginning ribbon crafters can make a Multicolor Ribbon Hair Bow. Pick out your favorite colors and patterns of ribbon and combine them into this festive bow, perfect for any time of the year.
  • 1 Cut ribbon

    Cut assorted width and colored ribbon into approximately 7" pieces.

  • 2 Attach ribbon to dowel

    Attach the end of your narrow ribbon to the end of a dowel rod using a spring clothespin.

  • 3 Wrap dowel rod with ribbon

    Wrap the dowel rod with ribbon to the opposite end and hold it in place with a spring clothespin.

  • 4 Heat ribbon on dowel

    Using a heating tool, heat the ribbon on the dowel for about a minute. Do not hold the tool too close to the ribbon and make sure to continously move the heat tool over the ribbon.

  • 5 Let ribbon cool

    Allow the ribbon to cool on the dowel rod.

  • 6 Cut ribbon

    Slide the ribbon off of the dowel rod and cut it into approximately 8" lengths.

  • 7 Place wire

    Place the Bowdabra wire into the Bowdabra.

  • 8 Layer 7" ribbon

    Layer the 7" pieces of ribbon in the Bowdabra.

  • 9 Layer curled ribbon

    Layer the curled pieces in the Bowdabra.

  • 10 Compress & tie bow

    Compress the bow and tie it together using the Bowdabra wire.

  • 11 Glue to clip

    Glue the bow to the barrette clip.
