How to Make a Grandkid Keepsake

Celebrate the grandparents in your life with a Keepsake frame! Kids of all ages can decorate a frame and then add a photo of themselves with mini clothespins. This craft is a fun gift to give any grandparent and to show them just how special they are.
  • 1 Prepare the frame

Use a damp cloth to wipe the front surface of the wood frame.

  • 2 Decorate the frame

Use a water based ink pad to lightly color the damp wood surface of the frame. Use a damp paper towel to wipe off the excess ink while lightening the stain on the wood frame. Let dry.

  • 3 Attach the cardstock

Tape a 4" x 5" piece of cardstock onto the back of the frame to cover the center hole.

  • 4 String the clothespins

Use a 15" length of cord to string one or two mini clothespins. String the cord through the center of the metal spring on the clothespin. Wrap the cord around the frame near the top edge so that the clothespins are on the front and then tie a secure knot on the back of the frame. Make sure the cord is tight around the frame as this will allow the photo to display nicely. Trim the excess ends of the cord and secure the knot in place with tape.

  • 5 Write a message

Use a marker to write a name or short message for your grandparents on the front of the frame.

  • 6 Attach a photo

Use the clothespins to hold a photo and the place the frame on the wood easel for display.
