How to Make a Cardstock DIY Hot Air Balloon

With a few sheets of colored cardstock you can create floating hot air balloons to decorate a nursery, playroom or any space that needs a burst of bright color. Simply string them onto baker's twine and hang them from the ceiling.
  • 1 Cut circles & hearts

Use the Cuttlebug or embossing machine to cut out 3, 4" circles and 3, 2" hearts from the assorted bright cardstock.

  • 2 Fold & glue

Fold 2 of the circles in half. Glue the centers onto each side of the flat circle.

  • 3 Repeat

Repeat Step 2 with the cut out hearts.

  • 4 Cut & loop twine

Cut an 18" length of baker's twine. Loop one end for hanging.

  • 5 Glue twine

Glue a thin line along a fold on the balloon and press the twine along the fold, beginning about 3" down from the loop.

  • 6 Tie pony bead

Tie a pony bead onto the end of the twine.
